Faroe Islands

The Health School of the Faroe Islands is not being undermined, but rather the focus is on addressing the significant staff shortages within the healthcare sector. This statement comes from Bingerð H. Fosságil, chair of the Health Care Association, who emphasizes the importance of this issue in a letter to the editor.

Fosságil references a proposal to open a branch of the Health School in the Northern Islands, which she believes could alleviate some of the workforce challenges.

The Economic Council and a working group have assessed the situation and concluded that establishing a northern branch in partnership with the Health School in Suðuroy would be prudent. This collaboration aims to enhance healthcare services in the region while tackling the ongoing personnel deficits affecting the industry.

Established efforts to improve the health sector are essential, especially as demand for healthcare services continues to rise. The dialogue around this proposal suggests a proactive approach to strengthening the healthcare workforce in the Faroe Islands, ensuring that the quality of care remains a priority for all.
