Four fishing vessels have applied for and received permission to operate in Norwegian waters for mackerel fishing.

Fagraberg has already entered Norwegian waters.

The other vessels, Gøtunes, Tummas T, and Arctic Voyager, are confirmed by the Fisheries Agency Vørn.

Mackerel catches by Faroese fishermen have been significantly lower this year compared to previous years.

As of August 22, a total of 16,265 tons of mackerel have been caught. In contrast, on the same date last year, the catch was 142,300 tons. In 2022, the total was 86,000 tons, and in 2021, 58,300 tons were recorded.

Fishermen from the Faroe Islands typically fish for mackerel in their own waters, as well as in international and now Norwegian waters.
