A recent survey conducted in the Faroe Islands reveals key priorities for citizens ahead of the upcoming municipal elections. The survey, commissioned by Kringvarpið, allows residents to identify areas they believe should receive higher funding from their local councils.

Respondents were asked to select up to four areas of higher prioritization. The results showed that 37% of participants want improved investment in roads and footpaths. Additionally, 32% highlighted the importance of better services for the elderly, while 26% called for improved conditions for children and youth.

The survey also examined citizen satisfaction with various municipal services, particularly in childcare, elderly care, and education. Kvívík Municipality topped the list for satisfaction with childcare services, followed by Sørvágur, Sjóvar, and Sunda municipalities. Conversely, Viðareiði Municipality ranked lowest in terms of satisfaction, with Sumbiar and Hvannasund municipalities also receiving poor ratings. Tórshavn Municipality was fourth from the bottom in the childcare satisfaction rankings.

Citizens were asked how satisfied they were with childcare services, on a scale from 1 (very satisfied) to 7 (very dissatisfied). The responses were converted to a score between 0 and 100, with higher averages indicating better ratings from residents.

The survey also assessed whether citizens believe their municipality has a good reputation in the wider community. The findings indicate that residents in Eysturkommuna and Nes municipalities feel their areas are well-regarded. In contrast, Tvøroyrar, Sands, and Skopunar municipalities received low ratings on this front. Approximately 3,000 residents across 29 municipalities participated in this survey, conducted by Lóður for Kringvarp Føroya.
