Faroe Islands

The Bishop has appointed Tummas Kannuberg as an assistant priest to the provost for a trial period of one year, starting from September 1 to August 31 of the following year.

According to the Church of the Faroe Islands, this position will involve conducting services in parishes with fewer than 400 members in consultation with local parish priests across the country.

In related news, Ólavur Eysturdal has been appointed as the acting parish priest for the eastern region of Suðuroy starting September 1, continuing until January 1, 2025. Eysturdal has previously served as acting parish priest in the northern region of Suðuroy for approximately one year.

This change comes as the current parish priest, Anne Mette Greve Klemensen, will be taking a study leave this autumn. Consequently, the Bishop, in collaboration with the church councils, has designated Ólav Eysturdal to take on this role in the eastern Suðuroy parish, which includes Havnarkirkja and Nólsoykirkja.
