The first main debate in the current parliamentary session will take place on Tuesday, September 3rd.

During this session, the parliament will discuss the overall plan regarding violence in intimate relationships and partnerships for the period of 2023 to 2028.

Sirið Stenberg, the Minister of Social Affairs and Culture, will present the report to the parliament at the next parliamentary meeting on August 29th.

However, this overall plan is not entirely new, as it was submitted to the minister on August 28th last year.

The plan for addressing violence in partnerships and intimate relationships from 2023 to 2028 includes 20 initiatives building on lessons learned from previous projects in the field, experiences from the Women’s House, and findings from efforts to combat violence abroad.

A total of four government ministers, along with a political advisory group and civil servants, were involved in the creation of this comprehensive plan, which was finalized a year ago and is now set to be presented to the parliament for main debate.
