A weather warning has been issued for the Southeast region of Iceland for the second consecutive day due to strong winds. Starting at 9 AM, a yellow warning will be in effect until 6 PM this evening, with northwesterly winds expected to reach 13-20 meters per second, strongest towards the eastern part of the area. Sudden wind gusts of up to 35 meters per second are anticipated near the mountains, making conditions hazardous for vehicles susceptible to strong winds.

Precipitation, such as rain or drizzle, is forecasted for many areas today, while the South and Southwest will experience dryer conditions. Temperatures will be milder in the southern regions compared to the colder northern parts.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, winds are predicted to strengthen in the western half of the country, with increased rainfall in the North and Westfjords. This may elevate the risk of landslides and rising water levels in rivers, prompting travelers to avoid steep mountain slopes, river valleys, and potentially dangerous river crossings in the region.

On Saturday, a decrease in wind and precipitation is expected. Conditions may turn slightly colder with some light rainfall in the afternoon, while brighter weather is predicted intermittently in areas south of the highlands.
