Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett to hold private wedding in Geiranger with limited media access

Media will have limited access to capture images during the wedding of Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett in Geiranger on August 31. The couple confirmed that Hello! Magazine will exclusively cover the event.

The Royal Palace clarified that other members of the royal family will not be participating in this exclusive arrangement, as they want equal access for all media outlets. “It makes sense for the Palace to distance itself from an arrangement that allows only one media outlet to photograph them,” said Ole-Jørgen Schulsrud-Hansen, a royal expert.

Schulsrud-Hansen believes that the palace’s decision stems from concerns regarding the commercial nature of the photo agreement. He emphasized that King Harald has historically maintained transparency concerning the royal family’s public appearances. He supports the palace’s choice not to adhere to the couple’s exclusive photo deal, especially amid ongoing discussions surrounding the use of the princess title.

“There are implications of a potential conflict between the royal family and Märtha Louise, but I don’t think that will happen. This may be their way of subtly responding to breaches in the agreement,” he remarked.

While the British publication has secured exclusive rights for wedding photos, it notably does not reference Märtha Louise’s royal title in its press release, opting instead to identify her as the daughter of the King and Queen of Norway. This could indicate an acknowledgment of the title’s commercial restrictions.

The couple, however, remains reserved about sharing details of the wedding, including the guest list and schedule, citing it as a private event. They express appreciation for the public’s interest while also highlighting the logistical challenges involved in accommodating it.
