On August 4, Marius Borg Høiby was arrested by police at Jansløkka School, near his home in Skaugum, Asker. He is currently charged with assault against a woman and property damage in the apartment they occupied that night. Høiby has confessed to the incidents, admitting he was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine, as stated in a detailed message issued to the media.

A few days prior to his admission, Høiby’s defense attorney mentioned that he had not yet decided on a plea concerning culpability, but later acknowledged the admission of guilt.

The police allege that Høiby acted violently towards the woman, identified as his girlfriend, causing damage to several objects in the apartment. Additionally, there are two ongoing investigations related to claims of domestic violence involving two of his ex-girlfriends.

One ex-girlfriend, Juliane Snekkestad, has claimed that Høiby assaulted her and is now recognized as a victim in an investigative case against him. Another former partner, Nora Haukland, has made similar allegations, and authorities are treating these allegations as potential instances of domestic violence. Both women have undergone police interviews.

The police currently have three cases connected to Høiby: the original incident involving assault and damage, as well as ongoing investigations involving Snekkestad and Haukland.

The nature of these allegations has drawn significant media attention, both domestically and internationally, highlighting the impact of his actions on the royal family due to Høiby’s status as the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit.
