In the past 24 hours, nearly 60 earthquakes have been detected near the volcanic intrusion at the Sundhnúks crater chain in Reykjanes Peninsula, with the largest quake measuring 1.7 in magnitude.

Since midnight, there have been ten registered seismic events, which is comparable to the activity observed the previous night, according to Bjarki Kaldalóns Friis, a natural disaster expert at the Icelandic Meteorological Office. Currently, there are no signs of volcanic unrest. Lava accumulation in the region has surpassed the upper limits observed before the last eruption.

Bjarki indicates that it is impossible to predict when an eruption will occur again in the Sundhnúks crater chain.
