Train services on the Nordlandsbanen line are currently halted between Åsen and Skatval in Trøndelag due to a landslide and debris on the tracks. Bane Nor has not provided an estimate on how long the cleanup will take but is expected to give an update around 10 AM. The disruption also affects passengers traveling on the Trønderbanen.

According to Widar Lian, a spokesperson for the train company SJ Norway, stones have fallen onto the tracks, and the section remains closed as they await a geologist’s assessment. By 7:30 AM, Bane Nor reported it cannot estimate the duration of the disruption. SJ announced later that the daytime train service between Trondheim and Bodø will also be suspended between Trondheim and Levanger, with no alternative transport available. However, trains from Levanger to Bodø are expected to operate nearly normally, though some delays may occur.

Passengers at Skatval are seeking shelter from the rain while waiting for alternative transport. Lian mentioned facing substantial challenges in arranging substitutes as many transport options are occupied due to events like the Nor-Fishing fair currently taking place in Trøndelag.

Travelers Svein Johnsen, Kari Gjønvik, and Georg Romstad, who just returned from Turkey, expressed frustration over the lack of timely information regarding their travel plans. With nearly two hours of waiting time at a local store, Gjønvik noted the atmosphere was becoming tense, criticizing the company for not having contingency plans, such as buses, available.

Another passenger, Katarina, remarked that landslides are frequent on this line, and while the current situation is inconvenient, she felt it could be worse if passengers were already on a train.
