Yellow weather warning issued for Southeast Iceland amid strong winds and rain forecast

A yellow weather warning has been issued for Southeast Iceland, effective from 11 AM to 9 PM today. Forecasts predict northeast winds between 13 and 20 meters per second, with sudden gusts around mountains such as those in Mýrdal and Öræfi. These conditions may pose a risk for vehicles sensitive to strong winds.

Elsewhere in the country, winds from the east and northeast are expected to be between 5 and 13 meters per second. The Icelandic Met Office has advised that traveling in Southeast Iceland today could be hazardous for vehicles prone to wind-related difficulties.

The weather forecast also calls for rain in southern and southeastern regions, with overcast skies expected in other parts of the country. Occasional light rain is anticipated after noon. Temperatures will range from 6 to 12 degrees Celsius.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, winds will increase to 8-15 meters per second, rising to 10-18 meters per second by tomorrow evening. The southern regions are expected to remain dry, while northern areas will see widespread rain and significant precipitation. Temperatures tomorrow are forecasted to be between 5 and 13 degrees Celsius, with the warmest conditions expected in the south.
