Danish Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard is set to welcome his Swedish counterpart, Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer, to discuss enhancing collaboration with Swedish police. The focus of their meeting will be to address a recent surge in violence linked to Swedish teenagers that has impacted Denmark. The ministers plan to explore immediate actions to intensify intelligence-sharing and strengthen efforts against orchestrators based in countries other than Denmark and Sweden.

Recent communications from Danish authorities indicate that this wave of violence is part of a gang conflict between the Danish group Loyal to Familia and an unnamed criminal network that also relies on hired assistance from Swedish nationals. Hummelgaard emphasized the importance of involving Sweden in these discussions, as a significant number of individuals involved in the attacks are believed to be Swedish citizens.

A press conference is scheduled for Wednesday, where Hummelgaard and Strömmer are expected to discuss various strategies to bolster intelligence cooperation. Hummelgaard noted that while steps have already been taken, there is room for further action.

Amid a political backdrop, multiple parties in Denmark are pushing for stronger border controls and increased monitoring of recruitment patterns leading to gang involvement. Concerns have also been raised about the efficacy of current border checks, as reports indicate that individuals can move freely without police scrutiny.

Opposition parties stress the need for collaborative measures to track recruitment channels, particularly on social media, to devise effective prevention strategies. Hummelgaard has expressed openness to evaluating all available strategies to combat the threat posed by criminal gangs and the growing influence of organized crime in the region.
