Electricity production in Faroe Islands reaches 100% renewable energy for weekend of August 17-18

Electricity production in the Faroe Islands was predominantly green in August, particularly during the last week of the month, which featured favorable weather conditions for renewable energy generation. From August 13 to August 19, wind power made up approximately 60% of the total electricity production, while hydropower accounted for around 25%.

Notably, on Saturday, August 17, the islands recorded a completely green energy supply, with no fossil fuels used at all. Wind contributed 65.16% of the electricity generated that day, hydropower supplied 33.59%, and biogas provided 1.25%.

In SuĆ°uroy, the electricity production was entirely green over the weekend, including both Saturday and Sunday, according to data from SEV.
