It is taking longer than the ten days required for the Prime Minister to respond to Bárður á Steig Nielsen, a member of parliament, regarding the cost of public administration.

This inquiry marks the first question under Article 52a during this parliamentary session, which has a ten-day deadline for responses. The ten-day period expired on August 13, but the Prime Minister’s office requested an extension. Bárður á Steig Nielsen expects a response by Thursday.

He seeks information on the expenses incurred by the central councils of the government from 2019 to 2023. Bárður notes that he raised a similar question during the previous parliamentary session but did not receive a satisfactory answer.

“When this coalition came into power, the Prime Minister stated that public administration would not cost more,” the parliamentarian said.

Now, a year and a half later, there are advertisements for several new positions within the public administration, and three new central directors have been appointed.
