Haukkala appointed new director of Finnish Institute of International Affairs
The Finnish Institute of International Affairs announced on Monday that Hiski Haukkala, a professor of international politics, will take over as the new director. Haukkala spoke at a press conference on Tuesday about his upcoming role, expressing his enthusiasm and motivation for the position.
The selection of the director was made by the institute’s board, and according to the board’s chairman, Ambassador Klaus Korhonen, Haukkala was appointed unanimously. He will begin his five-year term no later than the start of next year, with the possibility of starting even earlier.
