Faroese cod quota for Flemish Cap to decrease by 180 tons next year

The Faroese cod quota for the Flemish Cap will decrease by 180 tons next year compared to this year.

The Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization (NAFO) recommends a reduction in the total quota.

The Faroe Islands hold 22.35 percent of the overall quota, which will amount to 2,437 tons in the upcoming year.

Currently, there are 655 tons remaining in this year’s cod quota for the Flemish Cap.

In addition to 2,617 tons of cod, Faroese vessels are permitted to catch 193 tons of black halibut and 69 tons of redfish in the Flemish Cap this year.

No Faroese vessels are currently present in the Flemish Cap.
