This year, welfare regions in Finland are facing a deficit of nearly 1.5 billion euros. As a result, several areas are compelled to enter negotiations regarding potential job cuts due to the challenging economic situation. For instance, the HUS healthcare district, responsible for specialized medical care in Uusimaa, confirmed on Monday that it may reduce its workforce by nearly 1,000 employees.

Finance Minister Riikka Purra addressed the issue of funding for social and healthcare services during a live broadcast of A-studio on Monday evening. During the interview, she also responded to questions regarding the national budget deficit, employment prospects, and potential avenues for economic growth.

For those interested, Purra’s interview can be viewed on the Yle Areena platform starting at 9 PM. The situation continues to develop.
