Monday 19th 2024 on 12:03 in
Faroe Islands

On Wednesday, the Eastern Court of Appeals will hear the case of Daniel Binyon, the captain of the ship John Paul deJoria, owned by Paul Watson.

In July of last year, Binyon was fined 157,000 kroner by the Faroese court. He subsequently appealed the ruling to the national court, which will address the matter in Tórshavn this week.

Binyon was convicted of violating a ban imposed on the ship that prohibited it from entering within the 12-nautical-mile limit of the Faroe Islands. The penalty included two fines of 75,000 kroner each for these infractions of the regulations concerning the territorial waters. Additionally, he received a fine of 7,000 kroner for breaching rules related to passports and customs oversight.
