Faroe Islands

A committee will soon be selected to make decisions regarding research projects that seek permission to access the PKU registry.

Four members will be elected to the committee, which will be formed by the Minister of Health. Two members will represent the Health Authority, a clinical deputy director from the National Hospital will also be included, and one representative from the Health Research Unit of the hospital will join.

The Director of the Health Authority will serve as the committee chair.

The committee will be appointed for a term of four years.

The Health Authority organizes, manages, and develops the PKU registry.

Applications for research permissions in the PKU registry will be sent to the Health Authority.

Before any permission is granted for research, the Scientific Ethics Committee must approve the research proposal.

To gain access to the PKU registry, the research project must demonstrate significant societal relevance.

It should contribute meaningfully to Faroese health research, benefiting the Faroese population, as stated in the regulations regarding PKU records.
