Stian Staysman Thorbjørnsen, a prominent Norwegian artist, shared his excitement about an exceptional summer filled with performances across the country. “This summer has been fantastic, possibly the best I’ve ever had,” the 42-year-old stated, highlighting the numerous festivals that have drawn large crowds. Since he began touring 17 years ago, Thorbjørnsen feels privileged to experience such a vibrant season, and estimates that he has performed for hundreds of thousands of fans.

With many gigs still lined up, he has connected with audiences from northern to southern Norway, contrasting playing for 14,000 people in Kristiansand to intimate shows for 1,000 at community centers in smaller towns. Norway is rumored to have a festival at every corner, and while this may not be entirely accurate, the summer still has many music festivals remaining before autumn’s arrival.

One notable upcoming event is Rakettnatt in Tromsø on August 23, where artist Dagny is set to perform. Her manager, and sister, Juna Norvoll Sandvik, expressed enthusiasm for the festival, hoping for good weather. In recent weeks, Dagny and her band have not only toured Norway but have also engaged with fans across Europe, performing at major festivals like Rock for People in Prague and Sziget in Budapest.

Despite uncertain weather, Thorbjørnsen noted that audiences of all ages, from 18 to 70, brave the rain to enjoy the music. Even fellow veterans like the CC Cowboys continue to draw large crowds, proving that the summer festival scene in Norway remains vibrant and engaging, with younger generations knowing their songs and singing along. As August unfolds, various festivals await, showcasing both local and international talent.
