Health Authority urges public to report COVID-19 cases in Sweden
The Health Authority has been urging the public for three weeks to report confirmed COVID-19 cases following testing. Individuals are required to email the Health Authority with their name, personal identification number, and the results of their tests.
Due to this self-reporting method, the data should be interpreted cautiously, according to the Health Authority.
Notifications received from the hospital system indicate that the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients has remained stable over the past four weeks. However, reports of positive home tests submitted to the Health Authority have also been decreasing.
Nevertheless, this decline cannot be taken as definitive evidence, as there is no guarantee that individuals are reporting their results.
Although the notifications do not provide a clear picture of the infection situation, they do offer some insights into the current status, the Health Authority notes.
