A stabbing incident involving minors in Jyväskylä’s Kuokkala on Sunday has sparked rumors of potential retaliation and further altercations among youths. The Central Finland Police addressed these concerns via the communication platform Wilma on Thursday, noting that the victim is a sixth-grade student at Kuokkala Unified School.

While the police state that the threat level isn’t currently specific, they are taking all rumors very seriously. “The police encourage young people to seek peaceful resolutions to avoid escalations. It is our collective aim to prevent any future acts of violence,” the statement reads.

In response to the incident, police presence has been increased around Kuokkala Unified School and the surrounding area, with authorities assuring the public that it remains safe to move about there. They also recommend that parents engage in conversations with their teens about the events and encourage them to report any rumors of possible retaliatory fights or other concerning issues to trusted adults at home or school. The police emphasize that this information should also be communicated to them.

Additionally, the police urge young people to seek help from reliable adults as a preventive measure against potential problems. They previously announced that the incident was recorded, requesting that any footage be submitted to the police rather than shared on social media, as distributing such material could constitute a criminal offense.
