Next May, the Kittilä-born artist Reidar Särestöniemi would have celebrated his 100th birthday. To honor this milestone, the Särestöniemi Museum in Kittilä and the Rovaniemi Art Museum are organizing a commemorative exhibition next year. The museums are currently seeking works by Särestöniemi to include in the exhibition, as announced in a press release.

The exhibitions will open at the end of January in both Kittilä and Rovaniemi. Submissions for the artworks can be made to the Särestöniemi Museum and the Rovaniemi Art Museum until September 1. Furthermore, celebrations will be held in 2025, with events scheduled for May at Korundi in Rovaniemi and at the Särestöniemi site in Kittilä.

Reidar Särestöniemi was one of Finland’s most successful artists of his time, and this upcoming celebration will pay tribute to his significant contributions to the art world.
