Blues musician Halldór Bragason dies in house fire in Reykjavik
Halldór Bragason, a prominent blues musician and advocate for the genre in Iceland, tragically lost his life in a house fire on Amtmannsstíg in Reykjavik. He was 68 years old. Halldór, affectionately known as Dóri, played a key role in promoting blues music in the country over the years and was the founder of the annual Blues Festival in Reykjavik. He was also associated with the band Vinir Dóra, performing alongside many other well-known musicians.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway. Grímur Grímsson, the chief police officer of the capital region, reported that the origins of the fire remain unknown. He indicated that such investigations can take considerable time, but preliminary results may be available in the coming days.
