Eighty-eight students commenced their first day at the newly opened secondary department of Sankta Frans School in Tórshavn today.

“We have truly excellent facilities in the new secondary department at Sankta Frans School. It is well-designed, with bright and spacious classrooms,” stated Aslaug Olsen, the school principal.

Olsen is also pleased that Sankta Frans School can now offer a complete educational path from grades 1 to 9. Previously, students had to seek alternative routes upon completing grade 7, but with the establishment of the new secondary department, this is no longer necessary, much to the principal’s delight.

Aslaug Olsen emphasized that there has been a long-standing desire for the school to have a secondary department.

“I also expect that the overall standard at the school will rise, as we have welcomed more teachers, thereby increasing our professional capacity.”

The opening of the new secondary department marks a significant development in the educational offerings available at Sankta Frans School, providing a seamless transition for students as they progress through their schooling years.
