Service to Mykines canceled again due to adverse weather conditions

Service to and from Mykines has been canceled again today due to adverse weather conditions, affecting both this morning’s and afternoon’s sailings of the passenger boat Jósup from Sørvágur.

Tummas Henriksen, the director of the Mykines shipping company operating the route for Strandferðslan, noted that travel to and from Mykines has faced significant disruptions this summer because of poor weather.

“In July alone, nine sailings were canceled, leaving around 1,400 people unable to visit Mykines. On one occasion, a helicopter had to be dispatched to retrieve those who couldn’t return by boat,” he explained.

Henriksen further indicated that the prospects for sailings to Mykines for the remainder of the week are not promising.
