Tampere will expand into the Lempäälä municipality at the beginning of next year, following the approval by the Ministry of Finance for the proposals from both municipalities. The transfer will encompass an area of approximately 112 hectares located in Vuores, just north of Ruskontie.

This matter will be presented as an additional agenda item at the upcoming city council meeting in Tampere next week. The aim of this territorial change is to enhance living conditions and services for residents. The boundary adjustment is expected to improve the functionality of the area and economic opportunities.

Currently, around 6,000 people reside in the Vuores area on the Tampere side, with an ongoing construction project to establish approximately 2,000 new homes in the Västinginmäki region. According to Tampere’s assessment, the area has potential for the development of housing for an additional 3,500 residents, thereby increasing the demand for services and ensuring optimal usage of the school center.

As a consequence of this administrative reorganization, modifications to the voting districts will also be necessary.
