Millions of birds die each year from window collisions in Finland

In Finland, millions of birds are estimated to die each year as a result of colliding with windows, according to BirdLife Finland. Young birds and migratory species are particularly vulnerable to these collisions.

To help prevent these accidents, it is recommended to reduce window transparency and reflectiveness. This can be achieved by using curtains and blinds. Additionally, leaving windows unwashed can also be beneficial for birds. When windows are dirtier, birds are better able to perceive them, which may help to avoid collisions.
