Herleif Hammer calls for standardized procedures in environmental project approvals in Norway
Herleif Hammer, the director of the National Museum, expressed concerns about the delay in the approval process for projects impacting nature, stating, “We are often brought in far too late when it comes to projects that will affect the environment. This can lead to misunderstandings and delays in the work.”
He lamented the absence of a standardized procedure, which is common in neighboring countries, that all outdoor projects must follow. Currently, there are no regulations governing this aspect of project development. Hammer emphasized the need for a more structured approach to ensure timely involvement and effective management of environmental impacts in future initiatives.
