Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been arrested for vandalism and bodily harm following an incident that occurred in an apartment in Frogner, Oslo, during the night leading into Sunday. The police intervened after receiving reports of a violent situation, and Høiby met with law enforcement at Jansløkka School, which is located near the Skaugum residence, where he currently lives.

Jansløkka School is Høiby’s former primary school and has also been attended by Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus. Crown Prince Haakon, who is currently in Paris, addressed the press about the situation, calling it serious but refraining from discussing details. He noted that it affects him personally but mentioned his presence in Paris is to support the Norwegian Olympic team.

Høiby was arrested later on Sunday afternoon, hours after the police responded to the initial report. The case is now under investigation by the Central Unit of the Oslo Police District. The victim’s lawyer declined to provide comments, indicating a meeting was scheduled with the victim.

Due to the sensitive nature of the case involving a member of the royal family, there is a call for caution in how the media handles names and images related to the accused. Marius Borg Høiby, while a member of the royal family, does not hold any official title and is entitled to privacy protection. Nonetheless, given the public interest in the situation, it is noted that he has been charged with bodily harm and vandalism. Exactly how Høiby responds to these charges has not yet been disclosed.
