Hjördís Sveinsdóttir faced disappointment when she learned that Taylor Swift’s concerts in Vienna had been canceled due to a terror threat. Planning to attend the concert for over a year, the news felt like a substantial letdown to her and her family.

They were at Keflavik International Airport when Hjördís received the notification about the cancellation. Despite this setback, the family plans to continue their trip to Germany. “We are heading to Munich and intended to take a train afterward,” she noted, indicating they are reassessing their travel itinerary in light of the sudden change.

Originally, Hjördís and two friends had planned to enjoy the concert together. She first learned about the cancellation through a Facebook group dedicated to concert-goers, where a post detailed the terror threat and mentioned arrests connected to a young man suspected of links to ISIS. Although extra security measures were initially planned for the concert, shortly after the threat was announced, the decision was made to cancel.

Describing her emotional response, Hjördís said she felt as though she had gone through the five stages of grief but was beginning to accept the situation. “It’s really disappointing, as I bought the tickets last July and had anticipated this event for a long time.” The trip was intended to be the family’s first vacation together, although her infant son was supposed to stay home with his father during the concert.
