Lise Camilla Wærstad, a 30-year-old woman, was stabbed and killed in a parking lot in Mjøndalen nearly two months ago. A man in his late twenties has been charged in connection with the incident. The Norwegian Crime Investigation Service, Kripos, has completed forensic examinations on the knife found at the scene, confirming that it was the murder weapon, according to police attorney Ann Irén Svane Mathiassen.

A report regarding the mental health of the suspect is expected by September 1. Mathiassen stated that this report is crucial for determining whether the case will be forwarded to the public prosecutor. Police have indicated that there was a romantic relationship between the victim and the suspect, which ended shortly before the stabbing.

When police arrived at the scene, they found Wærstad critically injured, and she later succumbed to her injuries. The suspect was apprehended nearby.

Rapidly securing video footage from Mjøndalshallen allowed police to gain a clearer understanding of the events. Mathiassen mentioned that the available video footage details much of the incident, helping to streamline the investigation.

In response to circulating rumors about the identity of the suspect, police clarified that he is not the father of Wærstad’s two children. They expressed confidence in their grasp of the timeline of events, revealing that violence occurred both inside her vehicle and in the parking lot, which is fully documented on video.
