Faroe Islands to send new ambassador to Israel amid regional instability

The Faroe Islands have maintained a diplomatic mission in Israel for several years. “We have also changed ambassadors, and it is our intention to send a new ambassador out,” states Høgni Hoydal, the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The Faroe Islands’ embassy is located in Tel Aviv, and it is considered safe to send the new ambassador, Petur Petersen, who assumed the position on August 1, to Israel later this month.

Currently, the Faroe Islands do not have any institutions or councils that assess security in individual countries. Therefore, they rely on evaluations from Danish authorities.

Minister Hoydal acknowledges that the region is unstable and that there is a risk of conflict. Despite these concerns, it is believed that having the ambassador in the area is essential for maintaining communication, at least until the situation changes.
