Sixteen people drowned in Finland according to preliminary statistics from Finnish Lifeguard Association

In July, 16 people drowned in Finland, according to preliminary statistics from the Finnish Lifeguard Association (SUH). Among the victims, 12 were men and one was a woman, while the gender of three victims remains unknown.

Nine of the drowning incidents occurred while swimming. One incident was related to watercraft activities, and another resulted from an accidental fall into the water. The circumstances surrounding five of the cases are unclear.

In Finland, accidents lead to approximately 100 to 150 drownings each year.
