Rosenborg’s match against Lillestrøm was abruptly halted due to supporter protests against the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system. The club has now determined the penalties for the involved fans, who will be required to participate in renovation work at the club’s facilities, known as Brakka.

The renovation project includes scraping, cleaning, and measuring the space, with an estimated cost of around 400,000 kroner. According to the club, this situation represents a historic event in Norwegian football, which has influenced their decision on the type of sanctions to impose. It was noted that some supporters actively smuggled tennis balls into the venue and distributed them among the crowd, although the protests were not aimed directly at the club.

The fans involved have until October 1 to complete their assigned work. If they fail to meet this deadline, the Øvre Øst supporter stand will be closed for five matches. Additionally, the supporter group will be responsible for covering the fines imposed on Rosenborg by the Norwegian Football Federation.

The interrupted match is scheduled to be resumed on August 21. The organized supporter group, Kjernen, has expressed support for the imposed sanctions, emphasizing the desire for Lerkendal to be a venue for enjoying football rather than sabotaging matches. They agree with the club’s leadership on the need to prevent such incidents in the future, ensuring a safe environment for all supporters traveling from various locations.
