One of our players received the following verbal message from one of their players: “Kill you after the match.” This statement was included in the report submitted by Hallingdal FK to Norway Cup following last week’s controversial match at Ekebergsletta.

Sports director Jan-Eirik Thorberg and team leader Paul Tollefsen of Hallingdal FK are calling for the Uruguayan club Club Seminario to be banned from the Norway Cup after Thursday’s match between the two teams. “I believe this should be a given,” said Thorberg.

The round of 16 clash between the teams will unfortunately be remembered for the off-field incidents rather than the game itself. Over the course of 60 minutes, the referee issued six yellow cards and four red cards, necessitating a heavy police presence to intervene.

Domingo Martinelli, a member of Seminario’s coaching staff, admitted that the match was heated but emphasized that there was no ill-will between the teams. Thorberg described the situation as “utterly ridiculous,” mentioning incidents of kicking, punching, and violent tackles.

Allegations of death threats have also been made, according to Hallingdal FK. However, police stated they did not perceive that kicks, punches, or any threats occurred. Norway Cup chairman Øystein Sundelin acknowledged that they have received Hallingdal FK’s report and will process it according to jury guidelines, emphasizing that it is not common to receive such claims.

Jan-Eirik Thorberg mentioned that Hallingdal FK will not be filing a police report, as identifying individuals involved would be very difficult. He commended Norway Cup for their prompt police intervention during the match and noted the subsequent supportive responses from rival clubs after the incident garnered media attention. Thorberg expressed a commitment to return to Norway Cup next year despite the unsettling experience.
