Rat-catching dog hired by Sunda municipality

Sunda municipality has hired a Danish-Swedish farm dog to help fight rats, Kringvarp Føroya reports.

The dog, Asterix, searches for rats in villages across the municipality with its owner, Jann T. Eldevig. They walk through different villages in the evenings after working hours.

Danish-Swedish farm dogs are known for their natural ability to find and catch rats. Eldevig said the work had gone well so far.

Sunda Mayor Eyðstein Zachariassen said it was an obvious choice to assign Asterix the task because the dog and its owner live in the municipality.

The municipality is pleased with the results so far, and the mayor did not rule out giving similar tasks to more rat-catching dogs in the future.
