Iceland

The Icelandic Meteorological Office has announced an increased risk of landslides in the East Fjords on Monday. According to recent forecasts, a precipitation front is expected to reach the area late Sunday evening. The rain will extend from Borgarfjörður Eystri all the way to Öræfi. On Monday, a second, more intense precipitation front will follow, affecting both mountainous and lowland areas. If the forecasts prove accurate, significant rainfall is anticipated over a short period in this region.

Warnings have previously been issued regarding heightened risks of landslides in the South and along the Westfjords. Authorities advise the public to exercise caution when traveling in areas with steep slopes, as landslides can occur suddenly.
