Elisbeth Amalthiea Delrey, living in Barrit near Juelsminde, understands that some find her TikTok videos—where she dances in front of her car while promoting legal street racing—cringe-worthy. However, she is indifferent to public opinion, as her videos serve a purpose: to raise awareness about legal racing opportunities to her over 70,000 TikTok followers.

A driving instructor since 2009, Delrey is on a mission to highlight legal street races occurring across Denmark. These events allow speed enthusiasts to compete safely in designated areas with necessary safety measures approved by the police. Delrey believes more legal racing options are crucial to curbing reckless driving. She argues that providing safe spaces for racing could help reduce the number of accidents caused by reckless behavior.

Legal street racing requires police approval, meeting several criteria including a secured area, safety measures for the audience, and medical personnel present during the event. However, Jeppe Gudmandsen from the Road Safety Council expresses skepticism that legal races alone can address reckless driving issues, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive approach rather than relying solely on organized events.

Delrey, who used to engage in illegal street racing in her youth, was inspired to pivot her focus after a near-miss incident in her car. Now, she promotes safety by emphasizing the importance of responsible racing. She sees legal events as both exciting and crucial for channeling adrenaline in a controlled environment, with hopes of encouraging others to participate in safe racing rather than illegal behaviors.

Recently, Delrey has chosen to step back from her teaching role to dedicate herself entirely to her social media platform and organize more legal races, ultimately aiming to save lives by redirecting enthusiasm for speed into safer avenues.
