A fire broke out in a transport truck while crossing the Þrengslin area this evening. The driver escaped unharmed, but the cab of the truck was completely destroyed by the flames. Firefighters are still on the scene, focusing on protecting the trailer from further damage.

The fire started in the truck traveling westward through Þrengslin. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the fire has mostly been extinguished. Emergency crews from the Árnessýsla fire department remain active, working to prevent the fire from reigniting.

According to the fire chief, the driver was alone in the vehicle and managed to exit safely on their own. A pump truck and three tankers were dispatched to the incident. While the vehicle’s cab has burned entirely, efforts are now concentrated on ensuring that the fire does not flare up again and is contained to the trailer.
