Residents oppose proposed wind farm in Klivaløkshaga near Sandsbygd

Residents have begun gathering signatures against the proposed wind farm in Klivaløkshaga and the access road located just west of Sandsbygd.

“This area is too important for us to simply let it happen,” says Jóannes í Miðstovuni, one of the organizers.

Currently, teams are going door-to-door in Sandur to collect signatures.

For those unable to sign in person, there is an option to sign online at change.org to express opposition to the wind farm and access road.

Jóannes emphasizes that the natural environment in the area is far too precious to be disrupted by wind turbines.

He notes that while access to the area is good, making it more affordable, this is not a reason to push through the wind farm development.

“We are just a small number of people standing up against enormous forces,” concludes Jóannes.
