A helicopter from the Icelandic Coast Guard was called to assist an injured hiker near Ásbyrgi in North Iceland shortly before 1 PM today. The helicopter was en route when a second emergency call was received concerning a hiker who had fallen on Sólheimajökull, making access challenging.

The helicopter was diverted to the Sólheimajökull incident, but shortly after, it was reported that the injured hiker on Sólheimajökull had been located. As a result, the helicopter was once again redirected to assist the hiker in North Iceland.

This incident highlights the dynamic nature of search and rescue operations in the region, which often require rapid reassessment of priorities based on evolving situations.
