Fortaco sells marine and energy component operations in Kalajoki and Mustasaari to Componenta

Ownership of the manufacturing operations for marine and energy industry components in Kalajoki and Mustasaari is changing hands. Fortaco Oy, a machine shop company operating in several European and Asian countries, is selling its facilities located in Sepänkylä, Kalajoki, and Mustasaari to the international technology company Componenta. The transaction is valued at approximately 2.8 million euros.

Fortaco has been producing steel components for the marine and energy sectors in Kalajoki and Mustasaari, employing around 60 people, all of whom will transition to the new owner’s workforce. According to the announcement, the unit’s revenue last year was 9.6 million euros, with an operational loss of 1.6 million euros. In the early part of this year, revenue has been around 7 million euros, generating an operational profit of 25,000 euros.

Fortaco acquired the operations in Kalajoki and Sepänkylä from Rauma-Repolta in 2012.
