Finland amends Conscription Act for swift border security refresher exercises amid ongoing crisis at eastern border

Changes to the Conscription Act in Finland will come into effect today. From now on, refresher exercises can also be organized swiftly to maintain border security. This procedure would be highly exceptional and would only be used when and to the extent necessary to manage a situation at the border. The aim of this amendment to the law is to respond to the exceptional situation that has been ongoing for a year at Finland’s eastern border. The Border Guard will be contacting its reservists about this matter in more detail during August and September.
