In a new wave of burglaries in Stockholm, criminals have been pouring strong acid into the lock cylinders of front doors to gain access to homes and carry out thefts. The Solna police department issued a warning about this type of break-in last Friday. According to insurance expert and loss preventer, Erik Arvidsson, having double locks on the front door can be beneficial as it requires more acid and makes it more difficult for the thief to operate. “Two locks are harder than one”, he stated.

Arvidsson also assured homeowners that if such an unfortunate incident should occur, home insurance would cover the costs. He clarified, “If you have locked the door and bolted the windows, the insurance fully applies with the usual deductible.” This new trend of acid break-ins has left many residents shocked and looking for ways to protect their homes from burglaries.
