The Accident Investigation Authority of Finland (Otkes) is investigating the cause of a plane crash in Lopen Räyskälä that resulted in the deaths of two individuals when a small aircraft went down around midday on Wednesday.

Otkes will not determine who may be liable for the incident; that responsibility lies with the police, who are conducting their own investigation into the crash as part of a death inquiry and an accident investigation.

Currently, Otkes is conducting examinations at the crash site in coordination with other authorities. The wreckage of the aircraft will be relocated to allow for further investigation. The authority has begun interviewing individuals who may have information about the crash.

Otkes is also reviewing potential flight recordings and radar data related to the accident. According to their information, the flight was not part of a training exercise. Additionally, the actions of relevant authorities are under scrutiny.

Otkes is required to complete its investigation within a year when it pertains to an aviation incident. They will provide further updates during the course of the investigation.

The crash occurred on the outskirts of a forest.
