A government meeting is scheduled for four o’clock today, bringing together all ministers, including those from the Left-Green Movement. This meeting was called by the Prime Minister’s Office, amidst ongoing discussions regarding parliamentary activities leading up to the upcoming elections.

Earlier today, the President of Alþingi convened party leaders to discuss the continuation of parliamentary work before the elections. However, the chair of the Left-Green party did not attend the prior meeting, where opposition party leaders gathered to strategize.

The focus of today’s government meeting is expected to include the allocation of responsibilities among the nine ministers from the Progress and Independence parties, particularly concerning management of the ministries of infrastructure, food, and social affairs and labor.

In related political updates, discussions are ongoing about the political landscape, including calls for the dissolution of parliament not to be a capricious decision. Additionally, other political events are unfolding, including contract negotiations and staffing changes in government offices, reflecting dynamic changes as parties prepare for the upcoming elections.

With a busy political agenda ahead, the result of these meetings will likely shape the focus of the current government and how they navigate the final weeks before election day. As political alignments and agreements form, all eyes are on how these developments will unfold.
