Finnish Parliament to vote on no confidence motion against government over export-led wage model

Today, the Finnish Parliament will gauge the government’s confidence during a vote regarding a motion of no confidence initiated by the opposition party, the Social Democratic Party (SDP). The motion addresses the government’s proposed export-led wage model, which has garnered the attention of all opposition parties.

The government has been working to dispel concerns raised by the opposition, which argues that this wage model could lead to persistent wage disparities in certain public sector professions that are predominantly female.

The legislative proposal concerning the export-led wage model was submitted to Parliament earlier this month.
